What is TEOTWAKI
How would you all define TEOTWAWKI?
Could you survive it?
Personally I say it is (in no particular order):
1. Local food production only
2. No State or Federal Government
3. No electricity
4. Semi Permanent ie 1year +
5. Mutant Zombie Bikers
The only problem I see is food production. For me...
Personally we have enough to last us until a new food supply can be found, assuming we don't get inundated with people coming to us for food.
As a community I think with good leadership there might be some way to plant and grow enough to go around but I have no idea how accurate that guess is...
State and federal government isn't doesn't concern me in this situation, first comes taking care of and feeding self and family.
No electricity isn't a too bad, A small solar panel, an inverter, and some batteries is enough for the essentials.
lasting a year, see food prodution
Mutant zombie bikers, my AO has a noticeable population of meth addicts and violent people/mutant zombies, but my family is well set as far as fending off attackers. I'm not too worried there.
Just my thoughts on the matter
Yours?

I can only look back to hurricane Rita, where our town of 2,499 population got hammered. Interestingly enough, though there was no water or electricity, our townfolk took in several thousand refugees from south of us with only one minor problem (the sheriff loaded the busload of thugs back on their school bus and promptly escorted them out of town). There was no looting or breakdown in the social structure, possibly due to the fact that guns outnumber people here by probably 5 to 1. I think small Southern towns will probably be OK in a SHTF/TEOTWAWKI situation. "Mutant Zombie Bikers" will be declared "no season, no limit".

See if the my thread ( SHTF List of Issues To Prepare For ) and the replies in the Survival & Preparedness forum below helps to define what such a situation would be like. Please add any observations or thoughts you may have.

SHTF :: Shit Hits The Fan - A serious situation where you would find yourself in a short-term position of distress or danger such as a natural disaster (large-scale floods, blizzards, hurricanes, volcanoes etc…), small-scale rioting, civil unrest or small scale terrorist attacks. In some SHTF scenarios you may either have to bunker down in your home (or someone else’s) or escape and evade the confines of society and head for the hills (i.e. bug out). Typically, this situation would last only a short duration (3-5 days and definitely less than 30 days) but that does not preclude it from being especially dangerous on a personal level. SHTF situations quickly escalate and often come with little warning and can deteriorate very rapidly.
TEOTWAWKI :: The End OF The World As We Know It – Situations with a severe and serious impact on a national or even global scale such as prolonged civil unrest, coordinated and persistent terrorist attacks, mass rioting or a state of war and moving on to nuclear destruction, climate shifts and ice ages; basically anything that has a societal or global impact and changes life and the world as we know it for the long-term. This would typically be a rather long-term situation (30 days or more) forcing one from their home or into long-term distress and changing your way of life for an extended period of time.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
