No creditable source for the information, but it's always good to be cautious. Problem is that the enemy can create chatter like this for economic disruption.
Psycological warfare is all it is most likely.

Here are two sources making the point that this threat is bogus.

FBI Questions Someone in NFL Threat

WASHINGTON

The FBI interviewed a Milwaukee resident Thursday who officials believe was involved in posting Internet threats about dirty bomb attacks on NFL football stadiums this weekend. The threats appeared to be phony.
The person, described only as a young adult, did not appear to have any ties to terrorist groups, according to a Washington law enforcement official who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation was ongoing.

In Milwaukee, FBI spokesman Richard K. Ruminski said the "individual has come forward and provided information about the posting of the threat against the NFL stadiums. The U.S. government still believes this threat is non-credible."

"As this is an ongoing matter, we will not provide any additional information at this time," Ruminski said in a statement.

The threats about radioactive bombs, posted on a Web site a week ago, were not backed up by intelligence indicating such an attack might be imminent, according to the FBI and the Homeland Security Department.

Homeland Security on Wednesday alerted the NFL and authorities in New York, Miami, Atlanta, Seattle, Houston, Oakland and Cleveland, saying they were acting "out of an abundance of caution."

Homeland Security spokesman Russ Knocke on Wednesday said the threat was viewed "with strong skepticism." Still, the agency contacted the National Football League, local authorities and stadium owners. Also notified was the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

The online posting, dated Oct. 12, was part of an ongoing conversation titled "New Attack on America Be Afraid." It appeared on a Web site, "The Friend Society," that links to various online forums and off- color cartoons. The site's Internet provider declined to comment.

The message said trucks would deliver radiological bombs to stadiums in New York, Miami, Atlanta, Seattle, Houston, Oakland and Cleveland _ and that al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden would claim responsibility.

A dirty bomb would use conventional explosives to scatter radioactive material. Such a blast probably would not cause many deaths, experts say, but the fear of contamination could spark panic. Land and buildings hit with radioactive particles might be unusable for years.

Authorities traced the site's Internet provider to Voxel Dot Net Inc., which has support and engineering staff based in Troy, N.Y. A man who answered the phone at Voxel Wednesday declined to give his name, said he was unaware of the posted threat and refused further comment.

The author of the threats, posted at 9:31 p.m. EDT on Oct. 12, identified himself online as "javness."

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said stadiums are well-protected through "comprehensive security procedures" that include bag searches and pat- downs.

Officials were made aware of the Web posting on Monday. The threat was time for Sunday, marking the final day in Mecca of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month.

A copy of the posting said: "The death toll will approach 100,000 from the initial blasts and countless other fatalities will later occur as result from radioactive fallout."

It said al-Qaida automatically would receive blame for the nearly simultaneous attacks, and predicted, "Later, through Al-Jazeera, Osama bin Laden will issue a video message claiming responsibility for what he dubbed 'America's Hiroshima.'"

The posting noted that all of the stadiums cited, with the exception of Atlanta's, are open-air arenas. "Due to the open air, the radiological fallout will destroy those not killed in the initial explosion." The retractable roof in Houston has been closed for all games this season.

In Indianapolis, where the Colts were preparing for a home game this weekend, head coach Tony Dungy said, "I've been waiting for this to happen for a couple of years now and you try and handle the security and put it out of your mind."

18 October 2006; 8:12 p.m. ET UPDATED: The press has been circulating a story this afternoon about a post on a non-Arabic forum stating that seven-(7) dirty bombs would be detonated at seven different stadiums. The actual post read as follows:

"On Sunday, October 22nd, 2006, there will be seven 'dirty' explosive devices detonated in seven different U.S. cities; Miami, New York City, Atlanta, Seattle, Houston, Oakland and Cleveland. The death toll will approach 100,000 from the initial blasts and countless other fatalities will later occur as result from radioactive fallout. The bombs themselves will be delivered via trucks. These trucks will pull up to stadiums hosting NFL games in each respective city. All stadiums to be targeted are open air arenas, excluding Atlanta's Georgia Dome, the only enclosed stadium to be hit. Due to the open air, the radiological fallout will destroy those not killed in the initial explosion. The explosions will be near simultaneous, with the cities specifically chosen in different time zones to allow for multiple attacks at the same time."

"The 22nd of October will mark the final day of Ramadan as it would fall in Mecca. Al-Qaida will automatically be blamed for the attacks. Later, through Al-Jazeera, Osama bin Laden will issue a video message claiming responsibility for what he dubbed "America's Hiroshima."

"In the aftermath civil wars will erupt across the world, both in the Middle East and within the United States. Global economies will screech to a halt. General chaos will rule."

A seasoned internet researcher and counter-terrorism analyst in Florida, preferring not to be cited by name, has adequately disproved this entire theory early this morning. The proper federal authorities have been notified of the analyst’s findings. The Northeast Intelligence Network also concurs with those findings. As stated by this analyst: “It is just as much our job to disprove theories as it is to prove them. That’s why analysts must keep an open mind to be effective and accurate.”

As the matter is under investigation, we cannot share the analyst’s findings in detail. However the analyst did note that “There is a 99.9% probability that this entire matter is a fabrication, where someone is looking for attention and notoriety. This person does not possess any knowledge of any al Qaeda plots.”

This investigative analysis was based on extensive research of the author of this posting and the forum where it was found. A number of other important factors, all of which cannot be disclosed publicly at this time, were an integral part of this investigative analysis.

Yes. You'll probably see more of these in the coming months by stupid people and al quaeda sypathisers....
These types of warnings were rampant on another certain "survival" board, and when I noted that one was an out and out fabrication, I was banned...lol.
Seems the owner had a personal stake in the scare tactic.... trying to peddle his goods to the people there that believed it.

The idea to bomb stadiums has been around awhile (Remember "Black Sunday" and the old "bomb in the blimp trick" ?) and truthfully, I'm surprised some idiot hasn't already tried it. Rock festivals and NASCAR races would be other likely targets where the maximum amount of people would be killed or injured. Truth to tell, though, I think it hasn't happened because the terrorists cannot get the necessary personnel or bomb-making materials into the US. Like the Nazis in WW2, al qaeda puts up a facade of organization, when in reality it is one big clusterf*ck. I'm not underestimating the ragheads, it's just that IMO they shot their wad on 9/11 and an attack on that scale would be difficult to execute again...

as ever,

Well folks...whats the verdict? I rather suspect its just a hoax but I havent been watching the news today...was I wrong in believing it to be a straight up Hoax? It would be multiples of saddness if it wasnt....

In this post 9/11 world we live in I suspect that this will become common place, these wild threats constantly comming out that is. But my fear is what if these types of hoaxes become so common that we start droping our gaurd and then oneday some yahoo does happen to "pull a rabbit outta their hat"? The bombing of a stadium, or sporting arena could potentially be quiet the catastrophy from a human life loss. If I was a terrorist, it would be hard to not look at attacking an event like that with so many people in such an vulenerable setting. Even minimal success in such an attack could easily rival the death toll on 9/11...just something to ponder.
