The S has HTF!!! You can only grab one sidearm...what would it be?

For me the answer is simple as I only have one pistol now (not counting blackpowder), my SA 1911A1 .45 auto in stainless...

I only have 1 also, so it would be my .40 Baby Eagle.

I’m fortunate enough to own several nice handguns, but only one of them is a combat-type semi-auto. It’s a Steyr M40, a weird little piece that nonetheless points better for me than any handgun I’ve owned. I used it a while back to qualify for my Arizona CCW, and I’m completely comfortable with it.

It’s a little hard to conceal, though, so it often sits at home during these “normal” times. So, if trouble were to break out unexpectedly, the handguns I’d likely have with me on the road would be one of my two dependable .38 snubbies (one, an Airweight Smith and Wesson, the other, a stainless Taurus). The Airweight often ends up riding with me in a jacket pocket, while the heavier Taurus practically lives in my SUV.

These revolvers, I’ll admit, are hardly your classic SHTF weapons - but if something ever happens, I’ll sure be glad that they’ve come along!

My Kimber TLE II 1911A1 .45ACP Cal. that was converted back to a Series I by a good gunsmith. And yes, I would prefer 10rd mags, but got to buy some!!!

I would have to say that I would grab my glock, even though I love my 1911 and would rather go to a gunfight with it, my G17 is what I would grab if shtf. Why? Parts availability and ease of repair. No need to fit the parts and I can buy enough parts to replace pretty much everything in the gun without spending a fortune and I can do it on my own with few (if any) tools.

Second choice would be my Kimber Warrior 1911.

Glock 17. For most of the reasons already listed. I have a 1911, S&W revolver etc but in the dire circumstances described it woould be the Glock with several spare magazines.

I bought my first Sig Sauer pistol when you was still in diapers ;)

Bought my first P226 around 1991 soon after bought a P225. Sold the P225 and rolled that money over into another P226. I wanted the mag interchangeability and at the time wasn't concerned about a concealed carry as they law wasn't even in the works back then.

A GP-100 on a dedicated rig with four extra speed loaders and dump pouch with more loose ammo if I want to do an open carry or am walking in the hills.
A Springfield XD-sub compact 9mm with XD tac light in shoulder holster , hip, or just in my back pocket when just hanging out around the homestead or when I go into town.

I own several defensive/combat type handguns and have a few choices. But there is only one choice I keep coming back too time after time. The gun I would grab is the one on my "wonder woman (duty) belt". Its also the one I am carying with me as a CCW 9 times out of 10. Its my tried and true 1911, that just happens to be made by Colt. Scammed on this bad boy for a paltry 325.00 in NIB condition. The more I shoot and use this gun the more I am convienced its the best thing going out there. My only complaint is its blued not stainless. Its usually stoked with Federal 185gr Hydra-Shock +P, from Bill Wilson 8rd mags.

I'd have to dhoose my .44 Mountain Gun. Versatile and accurate. Stainless would be a plus in a survival situation.

easy question: Springfield PX9109L and my Les Baer Stinger. I only own 1911s, (not counting a Vaquero) and these 2 are my carry guns. Whichever isn't riding on my hip is always within easy reach.

My custom 1911 that I built... that is if I was also bringing a rifle with me.

If it were ONLY the sidearm, I'd bring my CZ-75B with +P powerball rounds mixed in with regular JHP's and FMJs.

Using a gun that you built has it's advantages. Being familliar with your weapon should give you a lot of confidence in it!

Its my firm belief that the defensive handweapon has not been substancialy improved since 1911. There is no substitute for a big slow moving bullet. Nothing, but nothing ,feels more comforting when things go bump in the night.

All right, I'll take my brother's Hi-Power. So there.:p

Or I'll just become a Zombie or a victim of whatever is the latest trendy disaster situation.

I think I like the second option better.:)

I do not know. lots of pistols in the house. Defensive...... 1911 now that said there can be made an argument about what is coming through the door.

If the SHTF and thugs are coming with body armor thinking they are going to do the next LA Ha-Ha you shot me so what then the CZ-52 is coming out. I understand about shot placement but when it comes to defeating body armor with a pistol there is not much else besides a hot loaded 357sig that will pretend it is a rifle round. Just another twist on the subject.

For me it's gonna be the Taurus PT92AF...& Several spare mags loaded with 124gr +p Gold Dots, If I am lucky enough to grab my range bag for the Taurus, I'll have several boxes of different ammo (88gr to 147gr, lead, plated, FMJ, HP, commercial to handload...) A few more aftermarket mags, the fun 30rd mag, and two different holsters... leg drop and high ridin' kydex. I keep the bag just below the Taurus for just such an event...

You never know when you might have to "gear up"....

That is an odd question X:D If I went to grab one it would be laying with the rest so I doubt you would find me with one should SHTF. If the question is what do I like best then that is a better question. I am an older man so my choice of the 1911 has long been made.

However it really doesn't matter cause I like all the good brands of guns.:D

Out of the 1911 and the 9mm id have to take the PT92 9mm. 17 round hi-cap mags is the reason why. Plus the 2 Ive owned have never even stovepiped a casing.:D

I agree with quite a few of you on here. 1st would be which ever ones closest at the time I get the info that S has HTF. Then if I could only pick 1 it'd be the Glock model 23 .40. Reliable with a happy med. between knock down power and range. I consider Glock the AK's of the pistol world. They always work.
