What 5.56 do you like.
77gr. SMK or 75gr TAP.
and the 55gr guat. for pratice.
55gr - XM193 from Federal or Winchester. I use the surplus SA or Guat for practice.
62gr - XM855, SS109. I've been using some XM855PD for the range and thus far have not had any issues with it, though it's not the ammo I would trust if my life depended on it due to previous issues that have been raised with this ammo.
Hornady's TAP ammo is damned nice, but a bit pricey.

For which twist rate?
I just got 1 in 9 and called it a day.
My bulk ammo stores for 5.56/.223 are all Federal XM193 for FWIW.

Good point akfanatic !
Some 5.56/.223 weapons require 55gr due to their barrel twist rate.

Been using Wolf 62gr HP for plinking and at 3gun matches. Haven't had ANY problems shooting it.
Would I use it for SHTF? Probably. I do have Winchester Q3131 and SS109 rounds on hand to use also along with about 6k rounds of reloaded 55gr FMJ.
I need to sit down one day and see if its cheaper to buy Hornady TAP ammo or just buy some Nosler Ballistic tip bullets and load them up. I'm not governed by the Geneva Conv so I don't have to use FMJ.
