I don't celebrate Hallowe'en, because as far as I'm concerned it 's the high holy day of Satan and his minions. As a young'un I went Trick-or-Treating but when I got older and did Bible study, I decided not to acknowledge it any more (besides it being another money racket). How do ya'll feel about it?

I think that's it's gotten so commercialized that the majority of people who celebrate it do not know the true meaning of it.
I also consider myself a Patriot and believer in the Constitution and respect others First Amendment Rights.

well i believe all holidays are commercialized as crap now a days it's how the companys making money just by having sales for every little one. i believe what it's roots were have nothing to do with why people celebrate today and so i don't see it as evil. i see it as kids eating candy and dressing up for fun. yes it's original roots might be from something more sinister but these kids don't acknowledge or believe in that stuff so i don't see the harm. but if you don't celebrate that's your choice. some people don't celebrate christmas.

As much as possible we stay away from commercial holidays. So Valentines day, Fathers Day, Mothers Day, Halloween... and even Christmas for a time. We did Epiphany instead...
Anyway, Halloween is Pagan, and came from the Celtic/Norse/Druid stuff. We don't allow our kids to do it, and they do know the signifigant meaning behind it.
To get off topic, Christmas is also on a pagan holiday and it was planned that way. We gave in to that one..

I know...Easter as well. I don't celebrate Christmas since my young'un got old enough to know there was no Santa Claus. It'll be REAL easy not to celebrate this year as my sister died from lung cancer last Christmas Eve...:(

I know this an old post but I found it and wanted to post to it. I don't really celebrate Halloween like I do Christmas. I do a jack-o and hand out candy to the brats (got out of that this year, THANK FN!). I find it interesting the TRUE meaning behind it. I do celebrate Christmas even though I know the date of celebration is a pegan date as it Easter but I do it anyway as I'm not celebrating the fact that the sun is coming back or anything like that. I do it because I am a Christian and I feel it might be odd to be the only one celebrating and passing out gifts June 14th (random date off the top of my head, haha, no real meaning behind it). But that's just my .02.

To me, it's all about free will. I feel funny about worshipping those holidays that I now, as an adult, know are pagan holidays. I have nothing against anyone who feels the Spirit of Christmas and practices accordingly, yet it all seems hollow and contrived to me, a gimmick used to stimulate retail sales. When I was a youngun, there was Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving, all big shindigs at my house. My dad was in 'Nam, and Mom did what she could to make the season merry. Nowadays, EVERY MONTH there is another big event to buy gifts or school supplies or Valentines or flowers for Secretary Appreciation Day for. All designed to feed the "consumer" furnace, not to pay homage to the Christian or even pagan dieties the days were set aside for. I guess what I'm saying is, knowing what I know about the holidays' true origin I cannot just act as if I do not...:)

I agree, the major things at my house would be Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. That's about it. Kids don't know much about what the real meaning about most of this stuff is, but ya know, can't teach them any of that stuff... it might offend someone...
