MURS ?

anybody here use the 5 MURS channels with your 2 way radios ?

im thinking about buying a few motorola XTN XV 2600's just for murs
and was wondering how the range is

I have my MURS programmed wide band, so only have the two wideband channels. I get around 1.5 to 2 miles with the stock rubber duck in hilly areas around home.

I haven't tried them on flat terrain or from a high point to test the line-of-sight distance .

Generally, this freq range is better in rural areas than GMRS/FRS and the latter is better at penetrating buildings in urban areas.

I like MURS because I almost NEVER hear anyone on the band.

Has anyone tried the new digital walkie talkies that are in the stores now. I see you can even send text messages with them and there are thousands of channels so supposedly hard to be listened in on.
