I took an Appleseed course offered by Fred of Fred's M14 Stocks. It is good basic riflemen training with a little bit of history thrown in at lunch. This type of training always makes me better. I think that it is the competition factor. But when I am at the range by myself I feel like I get less out of my time than if I am being scrutinized by an instructor or competing against other students. But I would also like to warn of diminishing returns. This simply means that if fatigue or what ever sets in your shooting will get worse the longer you are out there trying. So if you notice that take a break and then go back once you feel more relaxed and normal. I have been sun burnt very bad one day of training and then going back the next day was not very productive. Also while physically I am in good shape my eyes seem to get tired by the end of the day. Also all real training has peaks and valleys. These times where you are doing very well(peak) and then there are times where you feel dumb for not doing better(valley). You should always start the class in some type of valley and finish on a peak. Even a bad day of training is great because you are learning what needs to be fixed . Fix it in a class so it doesn't become a problem in the field.
