just wondering about differnt drills you guys might run to prepare for a real situation or maybe just 3 gun competitions. one drill i saw in a video on youtube of some guys in iraq. they would walk forward then act is if they'd made contact. fire a couple rounds standing then go to kneel fire a couple more rounds. (this was done with two people) then their buddy at their flank would fire a few rounds from kneel as the other retreated back and keep repeating covering eachother. then once they got back a bit they go from kneel to sitting position to prone in a decently fast pace just reducing their silhouette more and more. i found this to be neat as in a firefight you definetely want to reduce your exposure and running this drill could get you to do it as fast as possible while still firing to protect yourself.
so what ya got?

The drills I used to do involved two squads. This is a drill for a "far" ambush. Far ambush is anything farther than grenade range.
Squad "A" comes into contact. Upon yelling contact with a clock direction and distance to the ambushers Squad "B" prepares to assault while Squad "A" continues to lay suppressive fire. Squad "B" upon hearing the clock direction and distance of the ambush retreats by using tactical over watch "you move, I cover" tactics within the squad to break contact. Squad "B" then uses 3-5 second rushes to flank the ambush force while Squad "A" continues suppressive fire. Once Squad "B" has flanked the ambush position at a 90 degree angle to Squad "A" they open fire catching the ambushers in a cross fire with Squad "A" eliminating the enemy. This tactic is most effective if used against a linear ambush.

I just finished a Patrol Rifle instructor class and the drill I and 3 other classmates came up with was this:
two shooters
9mm or .40 SMG
50yd prone at a pie plate: 2 rds each to knock over one plate
move in safety circle
50yd prone: barricade starts 12" off the ground to simulate firing under a car
move safety circle
25yd high kneel both strong side and support side
move safety circle
15yd squat: barricades set as if firing through a window
move safety circle
7yd body armor drill. 1 rd left in rifle with the drill calling for 2 body 1 head shots. Shoot your rifle/carbine go to lock back transition to your handgun for 2 shots.
Good low round count drill
