Can only speak to personal experience.

I have an older Model 1 on an older PWA lower and it is one of the tightest upper lower match up I have seen. I can not shave an accuwedge thin enough to fit. Have run 1500-2000 rounds mixed commercial and surplus through it since I have owned it and I have only experienced one FTF. This occured do to a faulty magazine. Removed magazine from rotation and have had no more problems. There has been no FTE nor has there been any broken springs or pins.

I can not speak to others experiences with the company nor can I speak to their customer service as I have never needed it.

Hope this helps

M&A uppers are Rock River Arms parts. Just put a kit together the other day from M&A and the upper was marked Rock River Arms, made it nice since the lower was a Rock River Arms too....

No, they're not, I posted it for informational purposes since he was asking about AR uppers, and M&A parts is just as prolific in sales for AR parts as model 1.

I can post fry my experience. I have built a number from J&T, decided to try Model1. The problems that I have had, or am still working on..

Buffer stub detent broke off.
Sear is 'horrible'
Safety is not spec, detent is not right, and finish was bad

Will not cycle with over 10 rounds in a mag. Basically short strokes. Down to either the carrier or the key. I plan to get a new bolt/carrier.

I am also going to get a whole new lower part set to fix the other problems.

In the long run, I saved about $60 over a J&T kit, but it will cost me about $200 to get it right. Oh well, I can use the extra parts anyway.

I've bought a couple of Model 1 Sales complete uppers before and had problems with both.

The first one was shooting consistently HIGH. Even with the A2 detachable rear sight set to lowest elevation(flattop upper) it was still shooting 4 inches high at 100 yrds. Was at the point of sending it back when I found out that if you have a flat top Ar, you need to have a "F" marked front sigh/gas block assembly. It's a bit higher than a normal FS/GB. A taller front sight post fixed the problem.

The second one would stove pipe all the time. Couldn't fire 3 consecutive shots without a failure. Tried the usual fixes, new and stronger extractor spring, new extractor and checked the gas key on the bolt for looseness or cracks. Nothing fixed it till I installed an heavier buffer and a Wolf Performance buffer spring.

I don't think I will buy another M1 Sales upper or parts kit again. You can pick up Stag Arms or Rock river upper assemblies at a good price now.

I’ve been looking to buy an assembled AR upper, but I was also worried about the QC one gets from these lower priced AR upper people.

So, the “Big Three” of the low-end AR people seem to be:

Model 1 Sales (Whitewright, Texas)

J&T Distributing (Winchester, Kentucky)

M&A Parts (Lake Zurich, Illinois)

From the sounds of it, Model 1 still (perhaps) has some quality issues: some of their uppers are apparently just fine, but others are maybe not-so-good? J&T and M&A, however, meet with general approval?

I’d love to hear of any further experiences with these suppliers. I’m almost ready to buy, but I sure hate to end up with a turkey!

All of the things I have bought from M&A have been up to par, work fine and without any defects so far.

I have never personally bought anything from Model 1.

But a few years back, I was in on a group buy of pre-ban lowers and a friend bought three uppers from Model 1. Two were total J U N K!

One is the nicest sweetest shooting SP1 config. AR I've ever seen.

So, I'd say at best they are inconsistent in quality and dealing with them is just a crap shoot.

Sort of like hunting alligators or bears, if you know what I mean?

IMHO, Model 1 is not even an option for a build. J&T, DEL-TON, and M&A are your best bet for a good build. I do think M&A are a little on the high side. DEL-TON use Armalite parts and DPMS, WIlson barrels. I personally use J&T for kit builds as the product, price and customer service are good to go 100%.
