I do not know how many are familiar with the Foxfire books , if your not you should become aquainted with them. They are full of knowledge on how to survive and make it in the world, everything from growing and preserving crops and meats to making soap.

True......very, very, true. They've been there for years, but for people just getting started, Foxfire is an excellent resource and needs to be in their library.

ebay is another good source for foxfire books as well. Some people sell them in lots (i.e. vols 1-4 or 5-7, etc). I have gotten a few good deals on foxfire books looking through the auctions there.
