...when I spied some aluminum FAL mags.

Gent was asking $10 each for them, and I'd say they rated VGC to EXC, but were by no means mint.

Is this a decent deal? What do the aluminum mags go for, I mean is there a premium over steel?

I did pick up 10 EXC condition STG-58 mags today. Another guy had a single mag on his table tagged at $3. For $3, I was all over it. He then asked if I'd like to buy some more, and began hauling some out from under his table. Too bad he stopped at 10....I'd have bought them all day long at $3 ea.

Of note on the mag front...two vendeors were discussing how much they should start jacking up magazine prices due to the "New hi-cap ban" that they're just sure is coming. One said he was gonna raise his mag prices a couple of bucks each show, rather than all at once "...to get them used to seeing rising prices...". They gent he was talking to said he wasn't going to make any deals on mags, no bulk discount, no good buyer discount, nothing at all...you pay the price that's marked, so he could "...have enough mags to make a tidy sum when the new ban hits...."

Yeah. Nothing like planning your gouge before there's and ban legislation pending...tools.

Oh yeah....one table had 4 FAL's on it. 3 out of 4 were various permutations of L1A1, Imbel, and STG parts on Imbel receivers. One was an Imbel on Century. Not one of the rifles had a price tag of more than $700 on it, and they all were still there when I left.

Yup, some of those gunshow guys are just like vultures swooping down upon their prey. To be expected, though: that’s how capitalism works, after all. :(

With Imbel receivers going for $400+ these days, it's amazing me to see fully-built rifles (on Imbel receivers) going for under $700. Damn, wish I had a few extra bucks! No doubt those babies will be going for $1000+ the very day some EBR ban gets passed by congress.

It’s a perfect example of how far-sighted people need to buy their survival necessities NOW, rather than wait until “the balloon goes up.” None of us can ever be as prepared as we’d like (whether it be guns, ammo, tools, food, or fuel . . . you never feel as if you have quite “enough”) but it behooves us all to prepare as much as we can!

With 308 ammo prices high, it is a buyers market on 308 battle rifles. Now is the time to get your "spares" and sock them away.

Mags are another good investment at this time, however, supplies are getting short and prices heading up. Those who don't have their now, need to put resourses in that direction soon, or they will be on the short end of it all.

Good luck,

A lot of dealers have been gouging on magazines long before this.. claiming they're RARE and Hard to Find, etc..

I will however note that since the VT shootings, there is some profiteering going on and some dealers and distributors have raised their prices due to the sudden spike in demand.

I would like to add that I have seen one of my suppliers add 10 dollars to many mags that he is selling. I am glad that I don't need anything right now but I don't think that people should wait for the prices to go down. If we get a anti gun pres in 08 where do you think that the mag prices will go?
