I would like to know if any of you have a source for good hammocks for my ruck sack. Several years ago a guy named Don Paul made a whole book on hammocks for survival purposes but I didn't buy it and now I wish I got a copy. He had several clever ideas about using them for things other than sleeping. Also someone on overstock.com is selling old parachutes converted into hammocks. This is a very cool idea particularly if you could make a tent or lean to out of it as well. How about a source for old parachutes?

hammock do it yourself

looking at the links for do it yourself, looks like it's not that hard to weave one up yourself.

and I'm not deliberately trying to come across as a smarta$$, but also google "netmaking". there are a metric tonne of sites out there on that subject.

after all, a hammock is nothing more than a net to keep you up off the ground.

Hammocks are nice and comfy at least in "summer time weather". US cavalry had a special forces model I bought years back, and it is still giving good service. It has a cover and mosquito netting. I haven't seen anywhere I have been browsing recently, but try the surplus shops. If you are talking about making one , it would probably take a few hours and a medium spool of nylon "netline" to make.
