.308, any surplus available??

Has anyone heard of any surplus .308 available at a reasonable price? Looks like we're in a dry spell. I hope it doesn't last too long.... :eek:

I believe that the dry spell will be lasting for a number of years. About the only stuff left at a reasonable price is the 70's Indian. I just ordered 2 cans for the Appleseed in June from J&G Sales. About the only other place that I have seen it in stock is Ammunitionstore.com.

I hate to buy the Indian stuff with the poor reviews it gets. I may just bite the bullet (sorry for the pun) and get some. :rolleyes:

At least I put in an order with Pat's before his prices went up. looks like reloading is looking to be more of a neccessity... :(

I saw the 1970's vintage Indian go 3 through the same hole at 25 meters, seemed ok to me. The 1990-2000 stuff was the stuff to stay away from, bad in every way. FWIW I have not shot any of it personally.

Hmmm, when in doubt, don't do it. I think I'll just stay with my plan or reloading. Indian sounds interesting but I'm not sure. I hope I'm not sorry later...

FWIW, Wolf 7.62 x 39 is $149.50 per 1000 this week at Michigan Dunham's stores.

I remember when the 7.62x39 was going for $300 a case, wish I would have sold and bought twice as much now. That whole hind sight thing really bugs me.

There is enough "demand" for 308 that there has to be a supply in the works soon.

In the last month periodic SMALL lots of South African, Radway Green, Argentine, and Spanish 308 have been seen. They are not around for long.

To get in on Foreign Military Surplus you need to watch the Gun Shoes, websites such as the Fal Files, AR-15.com, RIFLE-company.com, War Rifles, Frugal's Forums, and the Online retailers such as Ammunition To Go, Ammoman, J&G Sales, Sportsman's Guide, Wideners, AIM Surplus, Surplus Ammo.com, Ky Imports, and the onlinr auctions like GunBroker and Auction Arms.


Sadly, its a matter of constant vigilance and lady luck.

Wolf 7.62x39 (and .223) on sale again this week at Dunham's this time it's 3 boxes of 20 for $10. That's $176.65 per 1000 out the door. Not as good as last week but still a good deal. They'll have it for $2.99 per box again. :eek:
