Check an asian food market or restaurant supply. Look for Jasmine rice - has a shelf life of 2+ years and tastes alot better than normal rice. 50lbs should be about $22

Where do you live? I suggest taking a drive out into the country, and visit a local grain elevator. Either buy direct from them, or ask them for the names of some local farmers that might be willing to sell direct to you depending on what type of grain you want. Nothing like the taste of rye 30 seconds after it is harvested!

Be careful with rye. There is a fungus that lives on Rye that is a neurotoxin. It make people go crazy. Wheat is much safer.

Try http://store.honeyvillegrain.com/
They have reasonable prices and more importantly shipping is less than $5.
I have heard good things about them but have not (yet) ordered from them.
Definately the best prices I have found so far.

Sam's club, or Waltons both are good sources and cheap.

yeah, and the infected rye ergot looks like something you would never eat!
seriously, rye straight from the field is safe, and ergot outbreaks have been virtually elimated with modern disease resistant crops, fungicides, and grain drying before storage. I doubt the Salem witches had moisture testers.
edit: 50 pounds of wheat for $37? your local farmers will laugh so hard they may give you a couple bushels for free!

For whatever it's worth, my local northern Arizona feed store chain ("Olsen's Grain") sells "recleaned wheat" and "recleaned corn" by the 50 pound bag.

Last time I bought, the going price for wheat was $8.50 for a 50# bag (it may be a bit higher now, I suppose). Now, it's sold mainly as chicken feed, and though it's supposedly recleaned, it's not as nice and clean as I like it. No big deal, though, to toss it a few times (atop a window screen) on a windy day to blow away the remaininig chaff.
And - compared to all the mail-order sources - the price is certainly right.
