Medicine for mountaineering by the "mountaineers" is a classic text for wilderness medicine. If you want to see it, I'll bring my copy down when I come to the Appleseed shoot .

For the best deal in over-the-counter meds, go to Wal-Mart for their "Equate" brand.

For dressings, bandages, instruments, etc., try the following links:

http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/
http://www.actiongear.com/cgi-bin/tame.exe/agcatalog/index.tam
http://www.armynavydeals.com/default.asp
http://www.colemans.com/

Reasonable Rascal runs a forum on medicine which has good deals on gear in the "Medical Outlet" area:
http://medtech.syrene.net/forum (http://medtech.syrene.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=23)

And Chuck Fenwick has good deals too, especially on potassium iodate (and if you don't know what this is or what it's for, you and your family are all in deep kim chee):

Watch for sales and specials. You can get some great deals (12 rolls of 4" adhesive tape for $5. 24 rolls of gauze headroll for $5, etc.).
