I've had several certificates of deposit for years and the intrest rates have always been better on the longest time deposits , now I see that the best intrest rates are on the 6 month CD's and the lowest rates are on the 3 year ones. This doesn't make sense to me , whats going on that I don't know about? The only answers that I can come up with are that there in no cash in the banks , or that they expect the intrest rates to soar int the next couple years. Either answer doesn't sound well for the economy. Do any of you have any ideas on this . Hope I posted in the right forum.

The banks think interest rates will go down, hence the short-term rates are higher than the long-term rates.

Or they think the dollar will be devalued (again)

considering that the dollar is going south against the worlds currencies I would think that the fed would have to raise rates to entice anyone to buy federal notes.
