years ago i had a musky plug in my right hand, knuckle near the thumb. had to drive 10 miles w/ the plug in my knuckle. at the hospital, i showed the doctor how to cut the hook out. his 1st. slice, he went OPS. the second cut released the plug. i don`t care to hear the OPS since.

don`t think you have musky in texas. if not known, it is a large fish, w/ a lot of teeth, like a gar.
