Anyone else see the program on voting machines? I don't remember what channel it was on, I think Discovery or one of those PBS stations. Woman went to Florida and started investigating the voting machines that were used in the last Pres election. Found out they can be rigged very easily. She also found thrown out ballots in the dumpster behind the township building that were supposed to have been kept for years. They were the origional machine tallies with the origional signatures of the voting officials on them. Anyway, as I watched that show, it occurred to me that it should be time to end the secret ballot. Right now, there is NO way an American citizen can, after an election, see and make sure their vote was properly counted. If we can do our banking online, shopping online, renew our driver's licenses online, and so on, why the hell can't we vote AND see that it's properly counted online? I think it's time to end the secret ballot, and allow us to vote online. After all, how much more private is it than to be able to vote from your own home, at a time that is convienent for you? No more standing in lines, no more machines involved, and afterwards you can log on and see if your vote counted (or was actually counted!) What say ye all?

I haven't believed Thad counted the vote for a long time. What is the real slap in the face for me is now they don't even pretend to.

If you are going to call for on line voting then the count needs to go to not only the Government but also to both (all) party's with a candidate, Major universities, the media and every major group with an ax to grind. Then we would have lots of people with different agendas doing the final count. If the numbers don't line up ...RE-COUNT.

The fact is the system is to easy to corrupt when its all done behind closed doors.

I think online voting wouldn't work because there would be no way to protect against hacking. The watchdogs in each state that monitor the elections are what (usually) keeps everybody honest. With the elections online they would be more open to be screwed with by any number of international/domestic hackers of every possible age group..
I, for one, don't believe the elections are real anyway. Big business decides in advance who wins what...
