Hey everyone. I was looking at food items that I might be putting in my BoB and I realized... I have no cheese... I love cheese! Is there a way I can get my cheese fix into my meals? PLLLEEEEEEEASE! LoL, maybe I missed the cheese product that can go a long time w/o refrig.

Velveeta (not really cheese) or cheese powder (somewhat not really cheese).

Cheese promotes constipation. Maybe you don't need your cheese as much as you thought...

You can have way better cheese for survival issues!

http://www.internet-grocer.net/cheese.htm

Canned cheese! I've got about a case and a half, by now. Doesn't quite feel like sharp cheddar, but it's great to have some cheese that can be in the closet for years!

The also have butter, which I really, really need to have through the first months of survival! I've got 2 and a half cases of TASTY butter..., and I intend to making fresh bread with good butter...., YUMMY.

Very interesting site ducky! So the butter and cheese is really good? Hmmm... might be looking into both!

Great for caching, but heavy to carry...

Thanks for the link. I might just have to order a can or two of the cheese and butter to try. Definitely would be good to have some on hand, especially if it passes the taste test. :D

How does sharp chedder feel?

Understand it's canned, can you describe the texture?

How is the taste?

I am about to purchase the 13 can assortment from them. I've got them to agree to do 11 cans of meat, 2 cans of butter, 2 cans of cheese.

This way I can do a taste test on all the different products and decide which are good.

I've completed 3 of 4 of the Brinkman products.
The canned ground beef and beef chunks were cooked in a soup and a stew. They were good.
The canned turkey reminded me a bit of C-rat turkey - a tuna aftertaste. I wouldn't buy it.
I'll be doing the canned chicken either this week or next week.

I picked up an instruction sheet on how to home can butter (lasts up to two years) and cheese (3 years+) at the LDS cannery a couple of months ago. The lady there had some samples in pint mason jars that she had done to show how it looked.

Can you post the instructions?

Thanks

I know I saved it someplace "safe", but I looked for my instruction sheet and couldn't find it. Fortunately, I was looking at Backwoods Home Magazine's site and found some instructions there.
