A first.... Q and A????

One of the things I'm working, amongst the many is working up an alternative power supply. In my travels I've picked up a computer grade working 5500 watt inverter, it operated on some really dinky batteries.... so Iplan on replacing them completely out with some super duty batteries likely golf cart type batteries. And along with these batteries I plan on keeping them charged using six or more SOLAREX 45 watt solar panels.... yea I know I need more panels, that is in the works.
Anyone working on anything better?

Not any better but I have found out that alot of places toss there UPS when the batteries go bad. I have two 750 watt ones and three 350 watt ones.

The nice thing is that if you have a cheepy gen-set they filter the bad power to good. I also have a number of Gel cells I get for free. 26AH each. I tie 6-8 together and set the UPS on top.

Main use right now for em is a back up for the pellet stove. Still expanding but I hate the cost of solar cells. I made one 45 watt panel but have not seen another source for cells. The last ones I got came from Germany and I got 42 4x4 cels for $100

I need to get more well versed in this area but I have "scrounged" a few things in my line of work and had access to a deal or two.
I had a customer give me a working 3K and 10K UPS system they replaced/out grew. A working buddys' customer is replacing a 20KW Onan genset and I got a line on that when the new one comes in and gets set. I'll also get the 7.5KW Onan genset the 20KW replaced a few years ago.
I have a source for UPS batteries and have made a couple of scores on that. Only have 2 65 watt USSolar panes now but would like to pick up more when they are closer to being deployed.
I wired my house with backup/emergency power in mind.
Not great plans, but the best I can do for now with the $$ I have to work with.
