I have a Barnett RC160 that I bought from Okie Joe last year for $90! I took off the junker sights and put a Walther red dot sight on it and Man! what a tack driver. Perfect for when silence is the order of the day, be it hunting or quietly zapping a sentry. REAL easy to lose bolts though...

And if you're really nasty, you can "shit-dip" the bolts like our little VC buddies did during the Viet-Nam War...

YIKES!!! But since you bring it up, what would be the advantages of "sh*t-dipping" yer bolts? Wouldn't penicillin or antibiotics kill any infection one might contract from surviving a broadhead through the chest? I'm not being a smart-ass (for once), I would seriously like to know, what with yer medical background and all...

The individual on the receiving end would get a really bad infection, where ever he/she was hit. Arm, leg, gut... bad news all. This would probably knock your target out of the fight for a minimum of 5 - 7 days, plus tie up troops and resources to move the victim to medical care and use up supplies of antibiotics. In a truely SHTF situation, with limited supplies of antibiotics and transportation, almost any hit would be lethal.

On the other hand, you could use nicotine to poison the broadhead and just kill the victim outright, with no chance of survival at all.

From a tactical standpoint, wounding an enemy complicated by a bad infection puts a much heavier drain on the resources of the enemy.

I've got a little cheapie Barnett 150lb draw. Can't recall the model offhand and its stashed somewhere in the shop ATM.

Might have to go dust it off and get some more bolts. Those plastic vanes"feathers" never seen to hold to long.

I shoot Horton Graphite bolts cut to 17". When I fire I love seeing the bolt gently arc and then bullseye-ing right where I put the dot. I have literally shot two bolts in the same hole with mine. Slow reloads would be the worst drawback to a crossbow, IMO, but that could be alleviated by careful choice of cover and fields of fire...;)

The advantage of a crossbow is silence. You have two bad guys walking with their backs towards you. Shoot one and beat feet... don't worry about reloading...
