How many of you see the current shortage 0f 7.62 Milsurp as totally bogus? The Greenville SC funshow didn't have a round in the house at any price, from what I understand. You know there's gotta be quadrillion rounds floatin' around out there in at least 47 different countries yet there ain't none to be bought. Is this the first brick in the dems War on Guns Berlin Wall? No ammo...no blammo! Are reloading supplies gonna be the NEXT thing to dwindle? Or will it be .308 brass? What say ya'll?

Even though I have never reloaded I have been slowly aquiring supplies to reload. there are some good deals on 7.62 brass on ebay. A friend of mine is selling me a rock chucker press as he has a dillon press. If I wanted to use his dillon - I'm sure I could ask and he would let me. I figure it best to make sure that there is enough to reload just in case there is a "shortage". Of course I have ehard rumor there will be more mil surp 7.62 after the first of the year. I hope it isn't Indian, but instead some good surplus. :) (assuming the rumor is true).

I think right now it is a combination of dwindling world surplus supplies and UN pressure to destroy instead of selling.
The dems will have their say a little later on.
Don't really know what to think about the future of reloading. Powder could be regulated by the dems in the future.

Twenty years ago, very few people shot main battle rifles and 7.62x51 was fairly scarce then. Until the Dole Admin. came along in '86 and let cheap import ammo in, you just couldn't get ammo except US surplus (which was often scarce) or US made commercial which wasn't as plentiful as it is today. (not as many brands)
Now we have a gazillion different people shooting MBR's from kit's because they were cheap to buy, build and shoot until, well now basically. You have all sorts of MBR types that were never around in any number before, CETME's were very rare, Fal's not a whole lot of them either. It was mostly HK 91 and
M1A's that you saw at a range, and people looked funny at you if you had one or two. A few more people had AR15's and other 5.56mm's. AK's just were not out there.
It's a combination of amazing growth in numbers of owners competing for a finite amount of surplus ammo, many who shoot large amounts of that ammo, others that stockpile large amounts, and then throw in the UN and foreign governments bowing to the UN, it all equals it's back like it was in the 80's.
High prices, not a lot to buy and not a lot of selection. I think one result will be the "culling" of the less serious shooters out of the sport. That will take some of the pressure off the ammo supply, in a couple of years.
