IIRC some editions had better/different information in them... I think the older ones were more informative... As they became more current the lawyers got involved and the handbook became more PC...

I have one from the early 1950's, one of my older brothers did the boy scout thing for awhile.

To me, it is priceless.

I've got mine from back mid 80s. A true wealth of knowledge. I have 2: The Boy Scout Handbook and The Fieldbook, I beleive it's called. Haven't dug it out in years. The Fieldbook covered alot more well, "fieldcraft" than the basic handbook and would be the one I'd look for if I really wanted one as an outdoor refrence.

I recommend the Ranger Rick's series of books (also as a good Christmas gift for your military spouse...) and also the US Army survival manual. A lot of good info there too. I have an old Boy Scout manual also, and it too has good info in it. Been a while since I've looked through it. GROG
