Can anybody help me? I have been a FALfiles member for 5 years now and I have NEVER been able to post, search or anything else. Now I cant even lurk like I have been . I sign in with my name and pasword, the thing thanks me for loging in and then , ZIP, FU, I cant do nothing. Several years ago I spoke to Jen in the chat and she said that it was because I use "AOHell". I dont believe that is the cause, I'm here and still use AOL.

I have sent about 50 Emails to the forum over the years and have never goten a reply. I dont want to sound like a whiney baby but WTF is up?

I aint the most computer literate person out there but this shouldnt be rocket science. Anybody got any clout on the 'files? If anyone is willing to help I would sure be obliged, my adress is Txfarrier11@aol.com, TIA, Dutch

AOHell sucks ass big time, why do you still use it? I'm assuming you use dial-up? What kinda connection speed do you get?

I'll ask Jen about it and see what she says.

OK talked to Jen. Says its one of two things.

One..AOL blows. The way their browser handles cookies causes problems esp. with thet software FALFiles is currently using. The newer verison that survivalFiles is running handles that problem much better. Jen is planning on upgrading FALFiles software when she gets a chance. It will take about 2 weeks of handholding to get that change done and she doesn't have the time now.

Might want to try a different web browser(Mozilla) running seperatly off of your dail up service.

Second thing is that you might never have confirmed your user account. When new accounts are set up, FALFiles automatically send out a confirmation email to the address listed on the registraiton. You need to click the link provided to confirm the account.

With a unconfirmed account, you would be able to log in and browse, but not post.

Either post here or message me you username only and I'll pass it along to Jen and she can see if thats the problem.

Yeah AO blows. I can get AOL for $5 a month (dialup) through my employer and I still don't want it. The I.T. guy at work says to stay away from AOL. THey install alot of spyware when you load their program. Some of it you can't remove / uninstall unless you reboot your computer.

Thanks for the help. My name on the FALfiles is the same as here, HottAK47. I think its possible that I never confirmed my membership. Five years ago I had even less conputer snap than I do now. Again, thanks for your help, this has been real frustrating and I knew it was most likely something simple.

I have checked your account and there is nothing on our end that would prevent you from logging in, staying logged in, or posting on the board. It is more than likely related to AOL. Trouble staying logged in? You keep getting logged out? Can't Post? All related to AOL. Try a non-aol browser, download IE or Firefox separately and try using a different browser.

Thanks for your help. I'm guessing its not AOL . Just for grins I regestered this morning using my wifes AOL SN. I am now the newest Falfiles member, Hippiecx44. I can se this as being embarassing. Is there any way to change my/her SN on the files?

Well, it was nice while it lasted. I was able to make about ten posts and now its back to the same damn thing. I was trying to make a post and the FU message came up, said I was didnt have permission to view this or my account hadnt been confirmed or something. Damn, I was , after 5 years of membership , really enjoying this.

Y'all excuse me, I'm going to go get drunk and kick my dog a while.

Hello,
I just signed up for this website after seeing it as one of the lincs on the FALfiles homepage header.
I cannot get on the FALfiles forum at present and have had difficulty off and on for several months now.
I get the message:
"The server is too busy at the moment. There are currently too many users online. Please try again in a few minutes.".
I believe a mod over there described the issue last time this happened as some kind of hacker attack.
