If memory serves, it continues to be claimed that Imported Military Surplus will ALWAYS be available. NOT SO !
Times they are a changing.
The BATFE has already ruled that the US Military's "Green Ammunition" cannot be sold on the civilian market nor the bullets or powder. Perhaps the Brass will be allowed?
Under the last run of DemoRatic control ALL US Military ammunition had to be DeMilitarized and sold as components or be re-manufactured prior to being placed on the civilian market.
With the recent UN vote on a Treaty to end the Proliferation of Small Arms and Munitions it is unlikely that surplus of these items will be allowed even on a Nation State to Nation State basis. As for the Commercial trade in Small Arms and Munitions we shall have to see what restrictions are placed once the actual terms of this treaty are finalized in 2008.
Now let's see:
1) Except for CMP supplies NO US Military ammunition is available to the civilian market nor will be in the future.
2) Imported Military Surplus ammunition is about to become History as a result of the recent UN Treaty.
3) Existing supplies of Imported Military Surplus ammunition will become exhasted as far as the 5.45x39, 5.56, 7.62x39, 7.62x51, 7.62x54, 9mm, and 50 calibres in the near future. Certainly shortly after the expected cut-off in 2008.
4) As far as other the supplies of Imported Military Surplus calibre ammunition, whatever is here will not last long once it is commonly known that all future supplies have been cut-off.
5) What about Imported Military firearm magazines? They are included in the munitions category.
On nummerious forums and boards from early spring 2005 on until it was cut-off in June 2006 many many posters swore that South African 308 would not be cut-off from export. Well, I and others were NOT predicting that event we were REPORTING the Decision and that is exactly what happened.
Now I am REPORTING to everyone that both the UN member Nations and the DemoRatic controlled US government WILL stop ALL Export and Import of Small Arms and Munitions and sale on the Global Arms Market upon the full implementation of the recently passed Treaty.
In fact, the DemoRats will Ban Importation of Non-Sporting firearms and Amunition ASAP ! Let's NOT Forget firearm magazines either.
This is only what is going to happen with regards to Military Surplus. We ALL know what the DemoRats will do to the Domestic manufacture and sale of Small Arms and Munitions with in the US ! What is yet to be seen is if they will then proceed on to a Ban on Possession.
My opinion is, if they get the votes they will.
What say any of you?
