I have been using a 6 shot pump Mossburg Persuader 500A w/ghost ring sights, a Colt AR15-A3 HBar (6721LE) Carbine and a 9mm Browning BHP that has been worked on.

The Mossburg has been exceptionally reliable and I really like the ghost ring sights but I would like something with more capacity, preferrably 8 shots, and in a semiauto platform. I have been locking at Remington 1100's but might be tempted to spend a little more.

The Colt is a bit on the heavy side but not objectionably so and it too is extremely reliable and the accuracy is more than adequate. Right now I am using iron sights but may switch to an Aimpoint.

The Browning has had a trigger job including mag safety removal but even with the improved trigger pull I would like it to have a shorter reset. I may get that done or I might just switch to my Kimber TLE II.

In addition to the above I have a DSA FAL SA58C that I may try in the HE MAN class along with my Kimber and Mossburg 12ga.

So far I have been shooting in 3gun for 2 seasons and although I have had a few good showings, I have no illusions that I will be a high scorer considering the level of competition and the quality of the gear used by some shooters. I do however have a great time each and every match and I have consistently improved my shooting.

What do you use and how have you been doing.

Remember: Speed with the pistol, accuracy with the rifle and quick reloads with the shotgun will contribute to better scores.

I use a M4'gery built up from parts, mostly Rock River with a old school EA lower receiver. Sig P226 in 9mm and a Beretta 1201FP semi auto shottie.

First two 3 gun shoots I competed in I placed mid range both times. I went ahead and ponied up the money for a tactical rifle/pistol class and now come in at the top 10 every match so far. The matches have been averaging 30 people, so the top 1/3 percentile ain't all that bad.

I haven't competed in any competitions yet, but I would like to take part in one as soon as I recover from neck fusion surgery. I now have an M4gery with eotech on top. I have an XD40sc and really like it. I am considering an XD40 tactical to compete with. I haven't figured out the shotty yet, as I am concerned about recoil. Maybe a semi-auto will work, but don't know enough to make an informed decision yet( input would be greatly appreciated!). I guess I'd better decide quick while we are still able to own them!
The biggest hurdle I see for me is a place around KC that holds competitions. I haven't been able to find any in my area at all. I'm not really in a position to trvel hundreds of miles to participate right now, but hopefully things will work so that I can(settlement from drunk driver that caused accident which led to having 4 vertebra fused in neck!).
BTW, I am also new to the survival scene. This is a great place to learn about preparations I need to start making. Hopefuuly I'm not to far behind to be able to get prepared before anything happens. Thanks for a place to get info that will help my family make it through any scenario.

Check out IDPA's website. Find a club in your area and see if they host 3 gun matches. A local IDPA club hosts the match I go to.

I have a Aimpoint M2 on my AR that works well for me. I've shot a few rifles with Eotechs on them but still prefer the Aimpoint.

For a shotgun, I'd recommend a Mossberg 500 or for a few bucks more a Remington 870. Start with a basic non hunting gun and get used to using it. 3 Gun matches will have you using 2 different ammo loads for different targets. We uses slug for paper and bird shot for steel. Being able to reload or eject a bird shot round in favor of a slug quickly will take practice.

You might want to try using some reduced recoil rounds for the shot gun, or reload your own.
