Which would most of you consider to be better magazines, Chinese or European?

I have not really noticed any real difference. But out of all of my ak mags, the Bulgarian probably fit the best.

Some people have a preference of one sort or another with AK mag types but I've tried just about everything and never had a problem with any actual military surplus mags. I have a real mis-mash and they all work great. I think the Bulgarian military waffle mags look the coolest but they don't have any functional advantage over the surplus steels in my experience.
I've heard stories about the Pro-mag AK waffle mags having some issues but I never felt the need to buy them, so I have no first hand experience there. I've also heard some complaints about the Polish flat side polymer mags, but I have a couple of them and they have held up real well and feed fine. I also have a couple of Yugo bolt hold open mags which fed fine too. I could take or leave them though as I don't find that feature useful (remove the mag and the bolt still slams forward). Some people like them though.
Safest (and most economical) way to go is with any steel surplus mag from a country that fields an AK of some sort. The Bulgarian waffles are sweet but easily twice the cost of a surplus steel these days. As long as you clean the steel mags up good when you get them and don't store them outside they should outlive us all. Plus in a pinch you could beat someone down with one.
